Prevention Campaigns, Risk and Resourcing Officer – Devon & Somerset Fire and Rescue Service
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service, the largest non-metropolitan Fire and Rescue Service in England, has the opportunity for a Campaigns and Resourcing Officer to join our Community Safety – Prevention team based at our Service Headquarters in Exeter. This role is available as a 12-month fixed term contract to cover maternity leave. It is a full-time position (37 hours per week) that offers a competitive salary starting at £38,220 (gross) per annum.
As a Campaigns and Resourcing Officer you will be required to respond to challenging and changing community risks, including but not limited to dwelling fires, outdoor fires and accidental drowning, in a creative and proactive manner. The aim is to reduce deaths and serious injuries caused by preventable incidents in our Service area, through a targeted strategy and a scale of interventions ranging from broad universal prevention services working with our communications team, through to bespoke interventions for those requiring our specialist services.
You will plan, design, create, deliver and evaluate prevention interventions and campaigns that are evidence-led and target the most at‑risk groups in line with the Service delivery plan and prevention team strategies and plans. These interventions will be designed to increase the adoption of safe behaviour by the public that will help to keep them and others safe. Use data analysis to ensure we are targeting our resources in the right locations and with the right people and protecting those most vulnerable and at risk in our communities.
You will supervise and oversee a team of Crew Managers and Community Safety Advocates with Casual ad‑hoc contracts who deliver our Prevention interventions across the Service area.
If you’re ready to take the next step in your career while contributing to the safety of our communities, we want to hear from you! Join us in our mission to create a safer world and become an integral part of our outstanding team.
Closing date: 23:59hrs 25 January 2026
