The Medical Assistant position in Occupational Health requires a number of skills not generally required of those in other clinical settings. Our MAs will help with injury intake and management, as well as new hire occupational health screenings including drug screens, breath alcohol testing, pulmonary function testing, audiograms, respiratory mask fitting, immunizations, blood draws, etc.

Location: Banner Occupational Health Clinic – 1703 E 18th Street, Loveland CO

Schedule: Monday‑Friday, clinic is open 7:30am‑6:00pm. Shifts can be five 8‑hour shifts or four 10s.

Banner Occupational Health Clinics are medical clinics specializing in worker's compensation injury care, drug testing, alcohol testing, physical examinations, Department of Transportation exams and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) mandated exams. Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for exam and treatment by taking and recording vital signs, symptoms and other necessary measurements, recording chief complaint, and documenting pain scores. Report conditions indicating change to the clinician.
  • Assist providers with exams and minor in‑office procedures, including taking blood pressure, documenting respiration and heart rate/pulse, taking temperature, and performing phlebotomies, ear irrigation, and EKGs. Act as chaperone as needed, using universal blood and body fluid precautions and personal protective equipment. Prioritize patient flow through the clinical process.
  • Coordinate and manage patient care including pre‑certifications, referrals, authorizations, prescriptions and scheduling for clinic, hospital and ancillary medical treatments and tests. Communicate test results to patients and serve as a resource to clinicians to provide optimal patient care. May administer medications in accordance with established policies and procedures or as directed.
  • Provide clerical support with patient/client notifications and documentation, including complete medical records such as labs, authorizations, X‑Rays, hospital records, and any previous care pertaining to each patient visit. Provide complete and accurate information necessary for billing related to the patient encounter in a timely fashion.
  • Maintain a clean, functional environment, including cleaning and disinfection of equipment, exam rooms and storage areas. Disinfect equipment and instruments using appropriate solutions following sterilization procedures. Follow manufacturer’s recommendations and OSHA guidelines in handling hazardous substances. Perform basic maintenance of equipment and coordinate needed maintenance for prompt repairs.
  • Order supplies and stock patient care areas. Monitor inventory, including medication/injectables and immunizations (e.g., expired medications/equipment and recalls).
  • Develop and maintain effective communication mechanisms with all external and internal customers. Exemplify service orientation and the team concept in all contacts.
  • Complete all necessary onboarding/orientation activities, including simulation training, as needed or directed.
  • Work under the direct supervision of providers. Interact with all levels of staff in a variety of departments, physicians, patients, families, and external contacts such as employees of other health care institutions, community providers and agencies concerning patient health care.
