Job Description Cleaner (Contract 9 Months)
Location: Parkway Bridgwater (covering Connaught House and Winsor House)
Employer: Local Authority
Contract Duration: 9 months (fixed-term contract)
Working Hours:
- Monday: 4 hours
- Wednesday: 3 hours
- Friday: 4 hours
Preferred Start Time: 8:00 am (flexibility available for the right candidate)

Summary
The Cleaner role is essential for maintaining high-quality cleaning operations across Somerset accommodation and halls. This position ensures a clean safe and welcoming environment for residents staff and visitors supporting the effective maintenance of council properties while upholding high standards of hygiene and professionalism.
Responsibilities
- Cleaning and Operational Duties
- Perform cleaning tasks according to standards set by the Cleaning Supervisor.
- Conduct general cleaning including vacuuming dusting mopping and sanitizing surfaces.
- Clean kitchen areas toilets and communal spaces to a high standard.
- Remove rubbish and recycling following manual handling guidelines.
- Complete cleaning activities efficiently with minimal disruption.
- Team Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the building cleaning team and work independently as needed.
- Coordinate cleaning activities across designated sites per supervisor instructions.
- Maintain a polite professional and helpful demeanor with colleagues and building users.
- Asset and Facilities Awareness
- Understand council assets and facilities.
- Perform duties with professionalism maintaining confidentiality.
- Handle equipment and materials with care.
- Health Safety and Compliance
- Follow health safety and wellbeing policies for personal and others safety.
- Adhere to safe working practices including manual handling and equipment use.
- Reporting
- Report any damage maintenance issues or concerns to the Cleaning Supervisor.
- Report faults with cleaning equipment or health and safety risks.
- Corporate Responsibilities

Requirements:
- Experience
- Previous cleaning or housekeeping experience is desirable but not essential.
- Experience in team environments or public/residential buildings is advantageous.
- Qualifications
- No formal qualifications required.
- Basic understanding of health and safety practices is desirable (training provided).

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good attention to detail and commitment to high standards.
- Reliable punctual and organized approach to work.
- Good communication skills and a friendly professional manner.

Required Skills:
