Ditcheat, Somerset (near Shepton Mallet, Wincanton, Yeovil, Wells)
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent (Day Shift – 37.5 hours)
Salary: £27,000 – £33,000 + Benefits + 30 Days Holiday (incl. Bank Holidays)
Graduate QA Assistant – Food Manufacturing
Are you a recent Food Science or Food Technology graduate looking to start your career in quality assurance or food safety?
We are hiring a Graduate QA Assistant / Graduate Quality Assistant to join an award-winning, family-owned food manufacturing business. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in food safety, HACCP, and quality systems while working within a supportive and growing technical team.
You’ll report to the Technical Manager and receive training across all aspects of quality assurance and food production compliance.
Key Responsibilities – Graduate Quality Role
· Monitor food production and manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with food safety and quality standards
· Complete and maintain QA documentation, records, and traceability systems
· Assist with internal audits, hygiene inspections, and GMP checks
· Support customer complaint investigations and non-conformance reporting
· Assist with microbiological testing and quality checks
· Contribute to continuous improvement and product development projects
About You – Graduate Requirements
· Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Nutrician or a related subject
· Strong interest in food safety, quality assurance, or technical roles
· Knowledge of HACCP or food hygiene principles (academic or practical)
· Excellent organisation, communication, and IT skills
· Proactive, detail-oriented, and eager to learn within a food manufacturing environment
Desirable (Not Essential)
· Placement year or internship in food manufacturing / FMCG
· HACCP Level 2 or Food Safety certification
· Exposure to quality assurance, audits, or technical standards (e.g. BRC)
