Bakery Clerk at Brookshire Grocery Company

Brookshire Grocery Company (BGC) is a leading grocery chain with five banners and over 215 stores across the Southwest. We are looking for a reliable and customer‑focused Bakery Clerk to support our pastry teams.

Packages, labels, and displays bakery products. Maintains stock levels and product quality by monitoring dates, appearance, and storage‑temperature controls.

• Adhere to quality control and food safety standards by stocking and rotating baked goods.
• Assist bakery personnel with preparing, packaging, labeling, and maintaining product displays.
• Promote product sales through suggestive selling initiatives.
• Stack pallets and sort product into correct locations per company standards.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary working and shopping environment.
• Provide friendly, customer‑service‑oriented support by greeting customers, answering questions, and taking orders by phone and in person.

• Ability to read and operate digital equipment, meters, dials, and calibrated scales.
• Ability to safely operate hazardous tools and equipment such as a bread slicer and commercial oven.
• Ability to learn new systems, methods, or processes.
• Ability to use precision and non‑precision hand tools.
• Ability to work well with fellow partners and promote a team environment.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers and partners in written and verbal form.
• Availability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Attentive to potential hazards and able to remedy or place warning signs promptly.
• Report any hazards that cannot be remedied immediately to a supervisor.

• Minimum of 18 years of age required.
• Partners must be 21 years of age or older to drive for company business.
• Food Handler certification required.
• Typically involves on‑the‑job training.

• Use close vision, distance vision, depth perception or ability to focus.
• Stand or walk continuously.
• Use hands for reaching, touching, or handling.
• Talk and hear continuously.
• Use strenuous finger or hand movements frequently.
• Bend, kneel, squat, or stoop frequently.
• Push, pull, maneuver, or lift objects up to 40 lbs frequently.
• Push, pull, maneuver, or lift objects up to 75 lbs occasionally.
• Attendance at work is required.

• Work is performed in a retail store.
• Exposed to hot surfaces, extreme cold and heat conditions (non‑weather), wet or slippery surfaces, equipment with sharp blades or edges, and cleaning agents.
• Moderate noise level.
