Definition:
Under general supervision, performs repair and maintenance work on buildings and facilities for Somerton School District No. 11.

• Performs repair and maintenance of electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.
• Repairs roofs, floors and paints school district buildings and facilities.
• Monitors contractors performing services to ensure compliance with specifications and regulatory requirements.
• Replaces light bulbs, fluorescent tubes, and air filters.
• Performs carpentry to install and repair cabinetry and bookshelves.
• Merges, repairs or replaces light fixtures, receptacles, outlets, exit signs, breakers, controls, relays, marquees, kitchen equipment, energy‑management system controllers, smoke detectors and alarm panels.
• Sets up and removes furniture and equipment for events and activities.
• Trims trees.
• Assists with custodial work.
• Picks up parts, supplies and necessary tools to complete assigned work orders.
• Operates heavy equipment to remove or install HVAC systems, irrigation sprinkler systems, or large maintenance projects.
• Monitors sprinkler installation and maintenance.
• Completes required paperwork, work orders, and logs.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

• Knowledge of carpentry, cement finishing and building maintenance practices and techniques.
• Knowledge of machinery, equipment and tools necessary for the maintenance of public school buildings and facilities.
• Knowledge of preventative maintenance on assigned equipment.
• Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
• Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical and mechanical maintenance and repairs.
• Skill in installing, maintaining and repairing public school facilities, buildings and grounds.
• Skill in safely using, maintaining and repairing equipment and tools to complete assigned projects.
• Skill in diagnosing and repairing HVAC system problems for efficient energy management.
• Skill in following oral and written instructions.
• Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.

Work is performed in indoor and outdoor environments. Work requires frequent standing, walking, bending and lifting up to 100 pounds. May be exposed to moving equipment, extreme weather conditions, heights, high voltage, construction sites, toxic fumes and chemicals, infectious diseases, enclosed spaces, and air or water‑borne pathogens.

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Five (5) years construction, building maintenance and/or trades experience.
• Must possess an Arizona driver license.
• May be required to possess or obtain HVAC Certification and Refrigerant Handling License Type I and II.
• Additional certifications may also be required as specified by the District.
• Fingerprint Clearance Card (IVP) required at the time of hiring.
