Job Summary
Summary Responsible for a multitude of accounting activities, including but not limited to journal entries, reconciliations, the month end close process and audit preparation. Reconciles balance sheet accounts, resolves accounting discrepancies or irregularities by collecting and analyzing account information. Supports various audit activities (external, internal and DCAA). Ensures that all deliverables comply with generally accepted accounting principles.
Essential Functions- Analyzes various transactions and prepares monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, as well as summarizes information for management and auditors.
- Investigates and resolves audit findings, accounting discrepancies and issues of non-compliance.
- Prepares financial analyses and reports for presentation to management, as well as responds to ad-hoc data / report requests.
- Provides support to Junior Accountants by assisting with on-boarding training, on-going policy / procedure changes / administration and serving as a go to for day-to-day questions.
- Assists in budget preparation and design for final review and approval by management.
- Performs various accounting activities, including but not limited to journal entries, reconciliations, balance sheet preparation, discrepancy and irregularity identification and resolution, preparing budget forecasts and tax information.
- Participates in financial standards setting, provides input to department goal setting and prepares recommendations for system improvements.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business Administration required
- Master's Degree in Accounting preferred
- Accounting experience 3-5 years required
- In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Strong attention to detail and organization.
- Advanced MS Excel skills including VLOOKUP's and pivot tables.
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills are required to effectively engage in systemic problem solving and innovative thinking in a timely, accurate, detail-oriented manner.
- Must have strong oral and written communication skills, and interpersonal tact for interacting with all levels of hospital & finance personnel Must be customer service focused.
