Crossroads Community Church (PCA) in Somerville, NJ is seeking an Assistant or Associate Pastor of Youth and Family. This position is primarily responsible for the leadership of the Youth Ministry and being a shepherd to their families.

The Pastor of Youth and Family will provide discipleship of students in 6th through 12th grade. He is also responsible for activities, policies, and procedures that relate to this area of ministry and will work with the lead pastor in the areas of preaching/teaching, care ministry, and discipleship

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Youth Ministry

• Direct the youth ministry program for middle schoolers and high schoolers, which includes Youth Group and Youth Sunday School;
• Lead teens through the communicant membership process;
• Recruit, train, and mentor volunteer leaders;
• Develop and lead Bible studies (so that you and others can lead it);
• Lead retreats, missions trips, and other activities;
• Incorporating youth into various church ministries;
• Develop relationships with parents and assist them in the spiritual development of their children by shepherding their families;
• On occasion, teach kids and adult Sunday school, membership class;
• Encourage and work with youths to live missionally in their schools and communities;

2. Preach and teach the Word of God once a month

3. Assist in leading corporate worship

4. Provide pastoral care to the congregation, including visitation and prayer

5. Assist in training, counseling, and other pastoral duties as needed

COMPENSATION/BENEFITS

• Salary will start at $80,000 based on experience and educational qualifications

• Subsidy of up to $12,000 per year for payment of Medical Insurance premium

• Participation in a 403b Retirement Plan

• Basic Life Insurance and Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance and Long-Term Disability Insurance available

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

• At least 3 ministerial references

• Statement of faith and personal testimony

• Sermon audio or video – preferably two or three

• MA or MDiv from a Bible College, University, or Seminary holding to a Covenant-Reformed Theological perspective

• Ordained, or seeking ordination, in the PCA

• Preferred prior Youth Ministry experience

• Must have demonstrated, developed skills in preaching and the spiritual gift of teaching

• Organized, self-motivated, and able to take initiative

• Able to take strategic direction from the Session and develop a program/plan

• Must possess a servant’s heart and a professional / pastoral attitude towards ministry
