Job Description
Crossroads Community Church (PCA) in Somerville, NJ is seeking an Assistant or Associate Pastor of Small Groups and Discipleship. This position will lead in strategic areas of development of ministry leaders, small groups, and discipleship of adults. The assistant will work with the lead pastor in the areas of preaching/teaching, care ministry, and discipleship.
Responsibilities- Oversee small group & discipleship ministry, including finding and developing content for groups, a strategy for recruiting new group members, target locations for future groups, and leadership development.
- Oversee the continued implementation of the discipleship pathway established at Crossroads.
- Recruit and train leaders for the Small Group/Discipleship Programs.
- Lead a Small Group/Discipleship group.
- Preach and teach the Word of God once a month.
- Assist in leading corporate worship.
- Teach adult Sunday School class and/or one-day seminars.
- On occasion, teach membership class, and assist lead pastor in elder and deacon training.
- Shepherd church members (individuals, couples, and families) by building relationships with them and guiding their spiritual growth. Provide pastoral care to the congregation, including visitation and prayer.
- Assist in training, counseling, and other pastoral duties as needed.
- Salary will start at $80,000 based on experience and educational qualifications.
- Subsidy of up to $12,000 per year for payment of Medical Insurance premium.
- Participation in a 403b Retirement Plan.
- Basic Life Insurance and Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance and Long-Term Disability Insurance available.
- Meet the qualifications for Elder/Pastor as found in 1 Timothy 3:1-7, and Titus 1:6-9.
- MA or MDiv from a Bible College, University, or Seminary holding to a Covenant-Reformed theological perspective.
- Ordained, or seeking ordination, in the PCA.
- Must have demonstrated, developed skills in preaching and the spiritual gift of teaching.
- Organized, self-motivated, and able to take initiative.
- Able to take strategic direction from the Session and develop a program/plan.
- Must possess a servant’s heart and a professional/pastoral attitude towards ministry.
