Role DescriptionWe are hiring an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineering Manager to lead our newly formed Mechanical Simulation & Analysis team. This team supports mechanical architectural definition, structural and thermal analysis, and model validation to proactively ensure designs are performant and meet requirements.
What You’ll Do- Manage and grow a world‑class team of mechanical architects, thermal engineers, and structural engineers.
- Lead the mechanical architecture, and structural/fluid/thermal analysis and optimization of Form Energy’s iron‑air battery.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams of battery, electrical, chemical, systems, and reliability engineers to develop, model, and optimize system designs for performance, cost, and reliability throughout the full development cycle.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; 12+ years of industry experience.
- Well‑developed experience analyzing and designing mechanical systems, assemblies, and components for high‑volume manufacture in a hardware product development company.
- Demonstrated experience leading, managing, and mentoring direct reports.
- Expert knowledge of either thermal analysis (CFD/FEA) or structural analysis (static/dynamic).
- Strong mechanical design experience across multiple shipping products.
- Hands‑on experience in model validation/correlation.
- Experience defining products and engineering requirements, and implementing FMEA principles.
- Experience in batteries, energy storage, or other high‑power products is a plus.
- Strong technical communication skills, especially with external parties and across internal functional teams.
