Securitas Security Services USA, Inc. is hiring Behavioral Health Safety Officers to work at Boston Children's Hospital's Waltham location
. Qualified candidates must have flexibility with one weekend day and holiday shifts.
Shift: 4pm-12am and 12am-8am shifts are available.
Starting Rate: $21.00/hour
Note:
This role is part of a 24x7/365 hospital operation. Attendance is essential, and there is a strict attendance policy. All employees must adhere to Boston Children’s Hospital culture of “Exceptional Care, Exceptional Service.”
- Interact with patients, including those who may be mentally sound or experiencing behavioral health concerns
- Physically and mechanically restrain patients as needed (e.g., wrist and ankle restraints)
- Respond to individuals who may be verbally or physically aggressive
- Conduct patient watches, which may require sitting with a patient for an extended period while remaining attentive
- Prevent self-harm or patients from leaving the room
- De-escalate patients or guests when agitation or disruption occurs
- Assist hospital staff with searching patients for dangerous weapons/objects
- Prepare and write up to 300+ reports per year
- Manage the main desk and lobby area with professional phone etiquette and proper transfer of calls
- Conduct access control and interact face-to-face with 250+ visitors per day
- Provide directions to guests
- Monitor radios and respond to alarms within the patrol zone
- Respond to alarms with urgency (panic alarms, door alarms, etc.)
- Maintain locker-based personal device policy and follow emergency contact procedures
- Knowledge of or ability to learn security operations and procedures
- Ability to be an effective team member and maintain professional composure in unusual circumstances
- Courteous telephone manner
- Ability to write routine correspondence, logs, and reports
- Good organizational and customer service skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact across diverse cultures
