Collections Specialist

Description

We are looking for a Collections Specialist to support a financial institution on a contract basis. The position focuses on maintaining account performance, resolving delinquency issues, and delivering effective customer interactions while working a 40-hour week.

Collection Specialist Responsibilities:

- Manage a portfolio of past-due consumer and commercial accounts, following established collection practices to reduce delinquency.

- Contact customers by phone and written correspondence to discuss outstanding balances, secure payment commitments, and document all collection activity accurately.

- Review account histories and billing details to identify payment issues, recommend next steps, and support timely resolution.

- Coordinate with internal teams to address account discrepancies, update records, and ensure collection efforts align with institutional policies.

- Monitor repayment arrangements and follow up consistently to improve account recovery and maintain service standards.

- Apply banking or credit union collection procedures while handling sensitive financial conversations with care and discretion.

Requirements

Collection Specialist Requirements:

- Experience in consumer and/or commercial collections, preferably within a bank, savings and loan, or credit union setting.

- Working knowledge of credit and collection processes, including billing follow-up and delinquent account management.

- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally when negotiating payments and resolving account concerns.

- Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate documentation and account notes.

- Comfortable working fully onsite in Branchburg, New Jersey, five days per week for a 40-hour schedule.

- Proficiency in managing multiple accounts and prioritizing collection activities effectively.
