Job Overview

RWJ Barnabas Health is looking to add a qualified part-time, CT Technologist in Somerville, NJ. The CAT Scan Technologist will perform duties directly involved with a variety of CAT Scan procedures. Prioritizes the patient as number one, and to put forth the utmost quality as a CT Technologist.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Experience:

    Three years hospital experience as a staff technologist preferred, with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Certifications and Licenses Required
  • Must have State of New Jersey License and ARRT
  • CT certification obtained within 12-24 months of hire.
  • CPR certified or willing to obtain within six months of hire.
Scheduling Requirements
  • Day Shift, 16 hours/week
  • Part-Time Schedule
Essential Functions
  • Positions patient to obtain study as prescribed by standard operating procedures.
  • Able to position all anatomical parts as indicated by the Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Performs the preparation in order to insure the prompt commencement of the procedure.
  • Ensures all necessary equipment is at hand prior to starting the ordered examination.
  • Under the direction of a Radiologist, instructs and administers cleansing preps and contrast agents.
  • Protects patients and other personnel by administrating proper radiation protection techniques.
  • Protects the reproductive organs with appropriate apparel, if visualization of these areas is not required.
  • Transfers and properly position patients for examinations in order to obtain desired radiographic results according to physician specifications
  • Assists physicians in performance of examinations.
  • As outlined in radiology policy and procedure and under the direction of the medical chairman the technologist will have proven competency in the administration of IV contrast media, to include venipuncture.
  • Practices sterile techniques and prevents cross contamination. Secures and returns supplies. Maintains room and room's stock.
  • Responsible for necessary equipment maintenance recommendations and trouble shooting when indicated. Keeps all necessary equipment maintenance logs which pertain to preventative maintenance of Emergency service.
  • Makes sure all necessary supplies are in room and restocks room accordingly.
  • Responsible for patient scheduling and smooth flow of schedule and patient preparation including contrast administration.
  • Responsible for quality control of Cat scan examinations.
Additional Computer and Clerical Tasks
  • Able to enter studies in RIS and HIS, and track cases.
  • Able to split and fix studies in PACS as necessary.
  • Performs a variety of related clerical tasks as necessary.
  • Cooperates with all hospital personnel in a positive and professional manner, maintaining ethical relationships. Maintains a positive and loyal attitude towards employer.
  • Rotates shifts covering weekends and on-call
  • Attends in-service training as required by the department
  • Able to attend the majority of educational in-services.
  • Explains procedures to the patient and answers any questions prior to the commencement of the procedures.
  • Completes all necessary paperwork/documentation prior to the submitting of the procedure for interpretation
  • Assists in the instruction of student technologists
  • Able to demonstrate technical art to the students.
  • Able to evaluate student performance and fill out observation forms.
