Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated Shop Floor Helper for a contract-to-hire position supporting daily warehouse and production operations. The role involves packaging sheet metal for shipment, maintaining inventory, assisting with material handling, and ensuring a clean, safe, and organized work environment. This position offers an excellent entry point into the metals industry, with opportunities for growth into machine operation, shipping coordination, or supervisory roles.
Job Responsibilities- Package sheet metal products for shipment according to order specifications and quality standards
- Build and prepare wooden skids and pallets for shipping
- Assist with material handling, including loading and unloading of trucks
- Maintain accurate inventory of raw materials and finished goods
- Operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently
- Follow all safety policies and maintain a clean, organized work area
- Support general warehouse and production operations as directed
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to meet daily production goals
- Prior warehouse, manufacturing, or construction experience preferred
- Familiarity with hand and power tools
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety standards
- Reliable, punctual, and eager to learn new skills
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- 1+ year of experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, or related environment preferred
- Schedule:
Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–2:30 PM - Contract-to-hire position; entry into the Carpentry Union 30 days after conversion
- Starting pay: $16/hour; increases to $17/hour upon union membership
- Union membership includes access to medical insurance, pension, and other benefits
- Must adhere to company attendance and safety policies
