Position: Impactful Preschool Teacher with Flexible Hours

Position is located in Sonoma County.

The Community Child Care Council is looking for a Preschool Teacher to join the 4

Cs team. The ideal candidate will work closely with the Site Supervisor to plan and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum, and perform other program related tasks, including the completion of child assessments and parent conferences. Teachers are supervised by the Site Supervisor.

Full Time Position, Non-Exempt.

Starting Pay: $26- $35 per hour.

Primary

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Monitor specific children’s progressive learning skills, document records of learning activities. Assess children using the required assessment tools.
  • Create and implement developmentally appropriate program curriculum, integrating both individual and group information from the required assessment tool (DRDP-R) in the planning process.
  • Design and implement fun, flexible, and interactive circle time activities that capture children’s interest and promote participation. Circle time should support learning goals while allowing for creativity and adaptability based on the needs of the children.
  • Collaborate and partner with the teaching team including assistants and apprentices in documenting children’s developmental progress. Support and guide planning process, fostering a collaborative and empowering environment for the entire team’s professional growth.
  • Comply with all funder and licensing regulations (Title 5 and Title 22).
  • In the absence of the Site Supervisor, may supervise Associate Teachers, Apprentices, Assistants, and substitutes.
  • Supervise and monitor children’s activities and behavior using a relationship-based approach that emphasizes individual learning needs and flexibility, recognizing that a supportive and adaptable approach is critical in ensuring the children’s physical and environmental safety, while fostering appropriate and positive development.
  • Demonstrate positive attitude, language, and body language that reflects support and respect to the entire center community: families, children, co-workers, and community partners.
  • Help to plan and coordinate parent activities.
  • Help to maintain center buildings and grounds.
  • Maintain required records as necessary.
  • Implement effective parent/staff communication processes.
  • Provide input on program goals and participate in an annual program evaluation (ECERS/ITERS, CLASS).
  • Build positive relationships with parents, children, and staff to foster social emotional growth and development and learning.
  • Support children’s social and emotional development through the direct teaching of emotional literacy, emotional regulation, and problem-solving strategies and friendship skills.
  • Diapering and use age-appropriate toilet learning strategies.
  • Partner with parents to support toilet learning.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings and in-service training as scheduled.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English required, Spanish, desired.
  • Ability to work well with people from various social, cultural, economic, and educational backgrounds.
  • Criminal record clearance (Livescan).
  • Current certification in CPR and Pediatric First Aid.
  • Must meet all relevant funding and licensing requirements (CA CCL, Title 22, Title
    5).
Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED required. Child Development Teacher Permit issued by CA Commission on Teacher Credentialing– Required.

Physical Requirements
  • Health clearance by physician; ability to fulfill physical requirements of the job including lifting up to 50 pounds, range of movement including squatting, bending, reaching, standing, and sitting.
  • Proof of current Immunizations (Measles, Pertussis, Influenza). T.B. clearance within one year.
  • Must be able to lift 15-50 pounds at times, range of movement including squatting, bending, reaching, standing, and sitting.
Travel
  • Occasionally, 10% for trainings or staff meetings.
