Job SummaryReporting to the Director of Facilities Operations, the Facilities Engineering Manager – Infrastructure and Projects serves as the University’s strategic lead for campus-wide utility infrastructure, energy and water systems, engineering compliance, and regulatory standards. This role oversees the planning, operation, maintenance, and compliance of critical infrastructure systems including the central plant, water systems, fire/life safety infrastructure, and campus-wide utility distribution networks.
Responsibilities include managing skilled trades, directing external service providers, maintaining regulatory alignment, and collaborating with campus departments and senior leadership to deliver integrated infrastructure solutions.
- Minimum 5 years of project management experience with 5 years of progressively responsible management/supervisory experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent education & experience.
- Demonstrated experience in water system operations, including compliance requirements typical of a water distribution operator.
- Preferred knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment and intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Experience with work control systems such as MetaBIM and People Soft preferred.
- Valid California driver’s license required.
Starting salary anticipated $9,000 to $10,420 per month. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, retirement (CalPERS), tuition waiver, vacation and sick leave, 15 paid holidays, and a personal holiday. Sonoma State University also participates in the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.
