Traffic Management & Safety Roles
  • Set up and maintain traffic control devices
  • Direct and guide traffic
  • Operate traffic lights or devices
  • Ensure regulatory compliance
    :
    Follow local, state, and federal regulations, including the MUTCD or similar standards.
  • Monitor for safety hazards
  • Provide safety instructions
  • Clear and direct communication
  • Bilingual skills
    :
    Ability to give directions in English and a secondary language (e.g., Spanish, French).
  • Collaborate with team
  • Install and remove traffic control devices
  • Perform daily checks
  • Respond to public inquiries
  • Assist motorists and pedestrians
  • ATSSA Certification
    :
    Must have or obtain certification from the American Traffic Safety Services Association, indicating training in traffic control safety practices.
  • Physical demands
    :
    Ability to stand for long periods, work outdoors in various weather conditions, and lift/move traffic devices.
  • Training
    :
    Additional safety courses may be provided to stay current with standards.
  • Working conditions
    :
    Outdoors, near heavy traffic, with safety gear required.
