Certified Nursing Assistant (36 hours per week) at Sonoma Valley Hospital.
Responsibilities- Assist patients with activities of daily living (feeding, dressing, mobilizing) and personal hygiene needs.
- Reposition patients for comfort per protocol and monitor for changes in behavior or condition.
- Take vital signs (heart rate, blood pressure, respiratory rate, O2 saturation, temperature) and report findings that are not within normal limits to the RN.
- Monitor patient intake and output, notifying the RN of abnormal increases or decreases.
- Document all findings accurately and in a timely manner.
- Maintain a safe and healing environment by keeping rooms neat, ensuring call lights and alarms are functioning, and following all safety interventions directed by the RN.
- Assist the RN with answering call lights quickly and determine the best way to assist a patient.
- Rounding frequently on patients, ensuring whiteboards are complete and updated, and assisting the team in keeping patient belongings safe and accounted for.
- Provide customer‑service oriented care—exhibit a welcoming and friendly demeanor, answer the phone professionally, and treat all individuals with respect and compassion.
- Maintain a professional personal appearance and demeanor in accordance with SVH policies.
- Support a healthy working environment by volunteering discretionary effort, fostering teamwork, engaging in problem‑solving, and avoiding gossip or negativity.
- Keep workstations free of equipment and clutter, submit work orders for faulty equipment to the appropriate team, and clean and disinfect equipment per SVH Infection Prevention policy.
- Perform hand hygiene before and after every patient interaction and when hands are visibly soiled.
- Report unanticipated events appropriately via the Midas system.
- Practice financial stewardship by not overusing or wasting supplies or linens.
- Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges to support patient flow.
- Maintain personal responsibility for all employment requirements, including a valid CNA license, BLS certification, and annual health and education requirements.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum six months of CNA experience in an acute care setting.
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant license from the State of California.
- Basic Life Support certification from an American Heart Association approved agency.
- Basic anatomy knowledge and normal vital sign ranges.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and care for multiple patients flexibly.
