Summary:

** The Computed Tomography Technologist (CT Technologist) is a highly skilled professional, who is confident in producing multiplane images for interpretation by the radiologist. The CT Technologist operates specialized computerized x-ray equipment to produce cross-sectional images of patients' human anatomy which aid the radiologist in the diagnosis of a wide variety of diseases and disorders. The CT Technologist will be knowledgeable with the CT scanner and understand how to manipulate scans to accommodate for patients’ size, motion and to reduce any undesirable artifacts.

All CT Technologists will follow departmental policy and procedures in regards to ALARA, possible pregnancy, and scanning protocols as directed by the radiologist. Taking stand-by may be a necessary responsibility according to hospital needs.
This is a journey-level position for a CT Technologist with at least two years of acute care hospital facility employment experience. A Computerized Tomography Technologist is a radiologic technologist who possesses the CRT, ARRT and Fluoroscopy certifications, and must obtain a Computerized Tomography (C.T.) certification within 12 months of hire.
** Job Requirements, Prerequisites and

Essential Functions:

** EDUCATION  
1. Formal Training in an accredited Radiological program with an Associates degree in Radiology  
2. High school diploma or an equivalent G.E.D. program therein.
EXPERIENCE  Minimum of two years full time experience as a CT Technologist in an acute care hospital facility or completion of Marin Health cross-training program.
LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATIONS  Basic Life Support Required at hire  Radiologic Technologist Required at hire  Radiology Fluoroscopy Required at hire  American Register of Rad Techs Required at hire  Computed Tomography Specialized within 365 days of hire  Integrative Agitation Management (IAM) Required within 30 days of hire    PREREQUISITE SKILLS  
1. Technical ability to perform all diagnostic radiography examinations as outlined in the Marin Health Diagnostic Imaging Services department policy and procedure manual  
2. Demonstrate understanding of human cross
-sectional anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology and medical terminology.  
3. Must maintain high degree of accuracy in positioning and exposure techniques.  
4. Ability to interact with general public, clients, staff and referring physicians with diplomacy, tact and goodwill  
5. Able to communicate effectively with patients who are under stress  
6. Ability to participate in department team quality improvement activities
