Job Description :
- The Family Engagement Advocate and ERSEA Assistant is responsible for carrying a caseload that will support families in their roles as their child's primary educator.
- Encourage parent/child interactions that promote children's school readiness and healthy development, and enhance family well-being.
- The Family Engagement Advocate and ERSEA Assistant takes the lead to build social networks among families and enhance family leadership and advocacy skills through participation in Head Start governance and other Center and community based leadership opportunities.
Job Responsibilities :
- Ensure eligibility, selection, and enrollment processes adhere to Head Start Performance Standards and Acelero Learning's internal standards and procedures.
- Accurately track attendance and assist with family follow-up and any needed action-plans to encourage full attendance.
- Maintain and update the enrollment tracking system; respond to enrollment inquiries.
- Coordinate with appropriate staff to ensure timely initial meetings occur with parents and documentation is properly tracked and recorded in our database.
- Conduct recruitment activities throughout the year.
- Promote Family Environments that Enhance Children's Development:
Engage families to enhance parent/child interactions that research shows foster school readiness through consistent family routines, positive guidance and discipline, experience rich home environments, and literacy activities. - Support Families to Meet Self-Identified Goals:
Utilize family self-assessment information to assist families with self-identified goals to enhance self-sufficiency in areas such as education, employment, housing, and access to community resources. - Engage Families To Support One Another:
Conduct group and center-based workshops and activities designed to build social capital and create a welcoming program community committed to family engagement in children's learning and development. - Program
Collaboration:
Work side by side with health, education and other members of the family engagement team to support families to be fully engaged in all aspects of our program - Record Keeping and Reporting:
Maintain accurate electronic and hard copy records and case note to support positive child and family outcomes. - Participates in assigned meetings, events, and training as required, with occasional travel locally or long-distance, up to 10% of the time, for work-related meetings and functions.
Job Requirements :
- Bilingual in Spanish and English is a must.
- An Associate's Degree in Social Work, Family and Child Development, or a related field is required; a bachelor's Degree is preferred.
- Passion for promoting positive child and family outcomes through high-quality family engagement.
- Proficient in supporting parents of young children in advocating for their families and cultivating positive relationships with both families and children, utilizing experience, training, and skill.
- Proficient ability to interact effectively with people from diverse backgrounds, both verbally and in writing.
- Proficient in Google Suite, spreadsheets, data management, email, word processing, and internet navigation.
