Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as-needed basis. They are responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided.
Major Responsibilities- Facilitates student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
- Makes optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.
- Develops/maintains course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials. Maintains accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
- Engages with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and lead to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College, showing evidence of developing and implementing active classroom teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning (curricular).
- Interacts with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner, complies with College policies, campus guidelines and expectations.
- Ensures knowledge of and implements emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs and all learning environments.
This is not to be construed as an exhaustive list. Other duties logically associated with this position may be assigned. All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of FERPA, other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.
Minimum RequirementsA qualified faculty member for ACCT 101 and ACCT 102 meets the course standard through one of two routes:
- Possesses an earned master’s or higher degree in accounting from a regionally accredited institution; or
- Possesses an earned master’s degree in a related business field from a regionally accredited institution with documented 21 post-secondary semester hours in accounting.
A qualified faculty member meets the program standard through one of five routes:
- Possesses an earned master’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution in accounting; or
- Possesses an earned related or out-of-field master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution, with documented 18 post-secondary semester hours or equivalent of courses in accounting beyond the introductory principle(s) level; or
- Possesses an earned related or out-of-field master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution, with documentation in two or more of the following: in-field professional certification (national, regional, or state); three years of in-field professional employment; documented evidence of teaching excellence, including date of award; documentation of research and publication in the field; documentation of relevant additional coursework beyond the bachelor’s degree, equivalent to 18 semester hours or equivalent subject matter coursework, CEUs, vendor, or military;
or - Possesses an earned bachelor’s degree in accounting, from a regionally accredited institution, with documentation in two or more of the following: in-field professional certification (national, regional, or state); two years of in-field professional employment; documented evidence of teaching excellence, including date of award; documentation of research and publication in the field; documentation of relevant additional coursework beyond the bachelor’s degree, equivalent to 18 semester hours or equivalent subject matter coursework, CEUs, vendor, or military.
- Possesses an earned Bachelor’s degree in a related business field from a regionally accredited institution with an active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification.

Compensation: $47.35/ contracted hr
Education, Experience and Other Requirements:
Must have strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to area of instruction and meet faculty credentials as outlined in the ASOM 7.1 for the specific area(s) of instruction.
