Overview
Data Center Technician, DCC Communities at Amazon Web Services (AWS). This opportunity is for U.S. citizens who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces including Reserves, National Guard, and service member spouses.
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure customers have continual access to the cloud. You will join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles.

AWS is seeking Data Center Technicians to support our customers in multiple locations. This position requires the successful candidate to report to a site location. The role helps ensure overall availability and reliability to meet or exceed defined service levels of data center operations. The position may involve participation in a primary responder rotation, which includes monitoring data center infrastructure, coordinating response to operational incidents, and partnering with other teams to resolve issues impacting service availability.
Primary responder duties may require evening, weekend, holiday, and/or night work. Work can be performed independently or in a team. You will install equipment, create documentation, and fix problems within the data center space. This team operates 24/7. Travel within and outside of the regional work area is required.

- Regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds; participate in group lifts for 41+ pounds
- Ability to work in a 24/7 environment with primary responder rotation and after-hours support as needed
- Working in cramped, elevated, and noisy environments
- Bending, lifting, stretching, reaching, standing and walking for up to 8+ hours a day
- Ascending and descending ladders, stairs, and gangways safely

- Perform server rack installations, hardware break-fix on various components, troubleshoot network issues, and respond to operational incidents that impact service availability, escalating to senior technicians and management as needed
- Serve as a primary contact point for internal and external stakeholders, including engineers, software developers, vendors, and contractors
- Perform on-call duties and participate in scheduled maintenance and change management activities
- Contribute to documentation and process improvement initiatives based on analyses of operational issues
- Assist in training and onboarding new team members
- Take ownership of technical issues brought by customers, engaging other teams as needed to drive resolution
- Resolve problems at their root cause and understand the broader context
- Maintain service level agreements through proactive issue detection and reporting
You will be required to work shift work that includes days/nights/weekends/holidays. Travel within and outside the regional work area is required.
