As a Process Engineer for MTI in South Bend, IN you will leverage your process or application engineering skills and manufacturing/production background or relevant academic experience in the application of one of our friction joining technologies to products manufactured by our customers worldwide. You will investigate and correct process problems as identified by internal and external customers, supporting sales, service, contract welding, and equipment manufacturing departments.

Your focus will be integrating systems and production to develop and implement improvements to existing manufacturing processes and methods.

A background in mechanical, manufacturing, welding or metallurgical engineering is preferred, along with familiarity and functionality with Solid Works (or another CAD program) and M2M (or a similar ERP system). Friction welding experience will set you apart. A willingness to take a hands‑on approach and the ability to interpret data/trends are essential. Strong presentation and business skills to demonstrate the merits of quality improvements and innovative ideas will help position MTI for expansion.

Knowledge of process improvements, friction joining processes, and metallurgical background are strong pluses.
