Summary/Objective:

Our Project Engineer - MEP will work with the Project Managers (PMs) and Project Manager Assistants (PMAs) to provide leadership for two or more Commercial Construction projects. Our Project Engineers interact daily with field crews, customers, vendors, and subcontractors. A Project Engineer’s main objective is to ensure that all team members have the correct information and resources to be successful.

Essential Functions
  • Maintain project tracking reports to monitor productivity and labor utilization
  • Create and maintain internal project schedules
  • Prepare complete, accurate, and timely submittals based on project drawings, specifications, and vendor information
  • Track and receive approved submittals from architect or engineer and coordinate with the Project Team
  • Assist Project Manager and other Project Engineers by preparing all necessary backup relating to change requests
  • Complete all required project close-out documents per contract
  • Update and distribute contract documents to subcontractors, including drawings, specifications, and general conditions
  • Schedule all required construction meetings with the ACI Team, subcontractors, vendors, and customers
  • Attend pre-bid, project, and closeout meetings
  • Solicit subcontractors and suppliers for proposals prior to submission deadline
  • Prepare correspondence with client, architect, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers
  • Submit building permit applications, follow up on review progress, and obtain approvals
  • Assist Project Manager to achieve quality, schedule, budget, and safety
  • Utilize and maintain tools for schedules and document management to track and record project performance
  • Document quality and progress of each subcontractor and supplier and notify of any changes to plans, specifications, and/or schedule
  • Inform management of productivity, costs, quality control, document management and processing of applications for payment
  • Notify management of any issues affecting quality, budget, progress, and safety
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibility: No

Required
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering field, and 2+ years of experience in a commercial construction environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize team performance
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multi-task, work with minimal supervision, follow written and oral instructions, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
  • Adherence to all company policies and procedures
  • Availability to work assigned schedules

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • Works in a professional office environment; may require visits to construction sites
  • Uses standard office equipment

Travel:

  • May require infrequent travel (typically not overnight)

Preferred:

  • Experience as a Project Engineer on heavy commercial construction projects
  • MS Project or other scheduling software tools
  • 3D modeling experience (Revit, AutoCAD, Inventor, Navisworks)
  • PDF editing software (Bluebeam, Adobe)
  • Familiarity with cloud-based PM software
  • Prior military experience
