Join Howard Shockey & Sons, Inc. as a key leader in field operations. In this pivotal role you will oversee daily jobsite activities, coordinate subcontractors and workers, and ensure every phase of construction is executed with precision, quality, and integrity.
This role is based on-site at an active project in South Boston, VA
. After completion, future assignments will be within a 75‑mile radius of our Richmond, VA office.
- Support all corporate safety initiatives with a commitment to a safe working environment and safety as the top priority.
- Study plans, specifications, and contracts to plan procedures for construction, focusing on safety, quality, schedule, and budget.
- Lead project schedule development and construction activities to maintain logic, sequence, and timeline requirements.
- Assemble project team members at the start of the project.
- Manage procurement of tools and materials to meet quality standards and work schedules.
- Direct supervisory personnel and subcontractors in planning and executing work procedures, interpreting specifications, and coordinating phases of construction.
- Resolve complaints and grievances within the workforce.
- Coordinate with design team, inspectors, and suppliers to resolve construction problems and improve methods.
- Inspect work in progress to ensure adherence to specifications and schedules.
- Perform field labor functions as required.
- Prepare and review reports on progress, materials used, and costs; adjust work schedules as needed.
- Coordinate project activities with regulatory or oversight agencies.
- Maintain high standards of candor, integrity, and ethical practices.
- Foster win‑win relationships through firm, fair, friendly, and factual interactions.
- Other duties may be assigned.
- Manages supervisors assigned to provide assistance to non‑supervisory employees. Responsible for overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit.
- Conducts interviews, hiring, and training of employees; plans, assigns, and directs work; appraises performance; makes recommendations to executive management for rewarding and disciplining employees; addresses complaints and resolves problems.
- Three to five years related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
