What You Will Do
  • Ensure contractors comply with all applicable safety standards during vegetation clearing.
  • Assist in planning and creating vegetation clearing scopes of work to meet NERC and utility right‑of‑way standards.
  • Contact property owners to obtain written permission where required.
  • Document QA inspections on contractor work to verify scope and specification compliance.
  • Conduct hazard tree assessments.
  • Communicate daily with utility clients, contractors, landowners, and the public.
  • Develop comprehensive knowledge of relevant utility and environmental standards.
  • Complete work summaries, updated QA reports, and weekly progress reports with detail.
  • Promote and maintain good public relations.
  • Work storm duty after catastrophic weather events affecting the utility.
  • Drive a company vehicle safely to work locations.
  • Assume other duties as assigned.
What You Need to Have
  • 1–3 years of prior experience in Utility Vegetation Management.
  • Local tree identification skills.
  • Strong problem‑solving, decision‑making, multitasking, and detail orientation.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; represent AMS positively.
  • Knowledge of common computer applications and aptitude to learn new programs.
  • Self‑motivated, can work independently outdoors in varied weather and terrain.
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills.
  • Ability to work safely and independently in remote areas with limited supervision.
  • Team‑player skills.
  • Accurate map reading and spatial judgment.
  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
What Would Be Amazing to Have
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, or related discipline.
  • 1–3 years experience in Forestry, Arboriculture, Horticulture, or tree‑related green industry.
  • ISA Arborist Certification.
  • GIS mapping program experience.
  • Strong team mentality, work ethic, and pride in work.
  • Familiarity with power‑line nomenclature and construction.
  • Bi‑lingual (English/Spanish).
Physical Demands

The team member must have sufficient physical ability and mobility for field work, including walking up to 10 miles per day, standing, sitting, operating a motor vehicle, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, running, crawling, climbing, reaching, twisting, grasping, and repetitive hand, arm, and shoulder movements. Tasks may involve carrying, pushing, and pulling light to heavy loads (up to 10 lbs. routinely, up to 60 lbs.
