This position is the initial point of contact for all potential admissions to the inpatient psychiatric units at UVMMC, Monday through Friday (8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, schedules based on organizational needs). It monitors and manages the list of patients awaiting placement in the ED, assesses referred patients for medication compliance, behavioral issues, treatment needs, medical complexity, and overall appropriateness for UVMMC psychiatry units.

• Consult with referring providers to determine appropriate level of care needs and availability of treatment on the units, in concert with the attending psychiatrist, nurse manager or designees.
• Provide oversight to clinical, administrative, and insurance elements of the admissions process.
• Coordinate with case managers of other medical services where patients needing psychiatric care are located within the hospital.
• Monitor psychiatric patients awaiting placement, referred by the psychiatric consult service or located in the ED, to facilitate placement where appropriate.

• Required:
  
  Licensed Clinical Social Worker, licensed psychologist, or related field, licensed in VT.

• Minimum of 3 years (5 preferred) experience working in a mental health treatment setting providing direct care and behavioral health interventions.
• Preferred experience in admissions.
