VMBA has been working with Vermont Adaptive and the Kelly Brush Foundation to help Chapters make their trail systems more adaptive-friendly. Last year, VMBA joined a consortium of organizations in applying for and receiving a major VOREC Community Grant to build a Vermont Trail Accessibility Hub (TAH). The TAH will provide hands-on technical support, resources, guidance, and learning & networking opportunities to trail managers seeking to increase accessibility.
This season, we’re planning on conducting another 12 Adaptive Assessments at trail systems across the state. Thanks in part to TAH funding, the VMBA office will be hiring a part-time Assessment Coordinator. We’re looking for a clear communicator and excellent listener with strong organizational skills and a passion for improving access. The 15-hr per week role will run from April through September/October.
Responsibilities and qualifications include:
- Conducting Adaptive Assessments
- Providing hands-on technical support and resources
- Guiding trail managers to increase accessibility
- Strong organizational skills
- Passion for improving access
