Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

Guards, patrols, or monitors premises to prevent theft, violence, or infractions of rules.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with emergency situations, First Aid, CPR and AED.
  • Demonstrates and adheres to working knowledge of a Community Emergency Response Team Certification. Is an essential member of Goodwill's Emergency Response Team.
  • Assists in the training of new Security Officers in company standards and security policies and procedures.
  • Helps promote health, safety and liability awareness. Acts as a safety leader.
  • Patrols industrial and commercial premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensures security of doors, windows, and gates.
  • Answers alarms and investigates disturbances.
  • Monitors and authorises entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security of premises.
  • Writes reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
  • Calls police or fire departments in cases of emergency, such as fire or presence of unauthorized persons.
  • Circulates among visitors, patrons, and employees to preserve order and protect property.
  • Checks all vehicles and donation center doors, lift gates and roll-up doors to determine they are locked and secured.
  • Notifies management immediately if any illegal activity is conducted during business hours.
  • Safeguards company property, including donated goods.
  • Reports any incidents of theft or unauthorized possession of company property to management immediately.
  • Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned or directed.
Qualifications

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Education:

    High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.
  • Experience:

    1 year or more experience required.
  • Computer

    Skills:

    Knowledge of MS Office, e-mail and internet preferred.
  • Certificates & Licenses: CPR/FA/AED Certificate, Community Emergency Response Certified, Basic OSHA Certified, Fire safety Certified.
  • Amount of

    Travel Required:

    50% to 75%
