Under supervision of the Site Coordinator/Childcare Director/Program Director/Branch Director and consistent with the Christian mission of the YMCA, the after school counselor is responsible for providing program leadership in an after school student group. The Counselor will assist the Childcare Director/Program Director/Branch Manager/Regional VP with various branch activities such as special events and other activities.

• Provide leadership for a specific after school group.
• Maintain discipline within the group.
• Follow emergency procedures in case of accidents.
• Remain with the after school group at all times.
• Plan and implement activities during open periods.
• Maintain equipment and records, including attendance.
• Follow established procedures and guidelines.
• Uphold the YMCA mission:

• Experience with small structured groups is preferred.
• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Must be a high school junior or above.
• No prior experience required.
• Positive attitude and commitment to YMCA’s mission.
• Physical ability to carry, sit, see, hear, speak, run, crouch, lift (up to 25 lbs.), and walk.
