Medical Pediatric Optometrist (Richland Medical Park Dr, Columbia, SC 29203, USA)

Prisma Health, the largest not‑for‑profit healthcare organization in South Carolina, seeks a Doctor of Optometry specialized in pediatric care to join our team. Residency training in Pediatric Optometrist or Medical Pediatric Optometrist desired. Preferred to have completed a residency in a program with both pediatric optometrists and pediatric ophthalmologists, possibly even affiliated with a children’s hospital.

Responsibilities include working with a pediatric population (early childhood to late teens), diagnosing and managing binocular vision and developmental vision disorders, collaborating with two pediatric ophthalmologists, performing failed vision screenings referred from local school systems, and fitting pediatric specialty contact lenses (aphakia, keratoconus, micro cornea, etc.). The department is a teaching department that trains residents and medical students from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine.

Qualifications:

Doctor of Optometry degree, specialized pediatric optometry experience, residency training preferred, proficiency in pediatric contact lens fittings, willingness to collaborate with ophthalmology team, and ability to perform school screening referrals.
