Job Title: Middle School Principal )
Job Goal: Under general supervision, the Middle School Principal administers and supervises the implementation of the district’s mission and vision and ensures effective daily operation at the middle school level.
Reports to: Superintendent
FLSA Status: Exempt
Primary Responsibilities- Facilitate the development, communication, implementation, and evaluation of a shared vision of learning that reflects excellence and equity.
- Lead the development and alignment of the organizational, instructional, and assessment strategies that enhance teaching and learning.
- Manage the school organization, its operations, and resources for a safe, efficient, and effective learning environment.
- Advocate, nurture, and sustain a positive, equitable school climate.
- Collaborate effectively with all stakeholders to include responding to the diverse interests and needs of the community.
- Demonstrate integrity, fairness, and ethical behavior by working within professional and ethical guidelines to improve student learning and accomplish school and district goals.
- Model respect, understanding, sensitivity, and appreciation for all stakeholders while effectively addressing their needs and concerns.
- Collaborate with school and district staff to plan and implement professional development activities that promote the achievement of school and district goals.
- Encourage and develops collective leadership.
- Engage ongoing professional development opportunities and professional networks to further understand and utilize best practices that promote student growth and the achievement of the district’s shared vision and strategic plan.
- Master’s Degree in Educational Administration or a related field.
- Valid South Carolina certification in appropriate school level administration.
- Minimum of three (3) years of successful teaching experience.
- Minimum of two (2) years of administrative experience (assistant principal, principal, or district-level administration).
- Three (3) to five (5) years of administrative experience.
- Experience as a school principal and/or district-level administrator.
- Completion of state-required evaluation certification training.
- Evidence of ongoing professional learning and leadership development.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the School Board’s policy on evaluation of certified administrative personnel.
Physical Requirements: Requires light work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 50 lbs. of force on a recurring basis and/or routine keyboard operations.
Terms of Employment: 240 days with compensation commensurate with principal experience per Lexington 4 Administrative Salary Scale - A3.
