Open Rank (Assistant, Associate, or Full) – PhD Program Director
Join the Arnold School of Public Health at the University of South Carolina as a tenured, open‑rank faculty member to serve as PhD Program Director.
Position OverviewThe 9‑month tenure‑track faculty position is fully funded by state funds and offers a substantial start‑up package and administrative supplement. The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of the doctoral program, develop a strong extramural research program, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, mentor students and postdoctoral fellows, and provide service to the university and community.
Responsibilities- Develop and sustain an independent extramurally‑funded research program.
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses within the Department of Health Services Policy and Management.
- Advise and mentor students, postdoctoral fellows, and faculty.
- Provide service to the university, profession, and community.
- Doctoral degree in health policy, health services research, health care management, health economics, public policy, or a closely related field by the employment start date.
- For Assistant Professor rank: clear research agenda, high potential for extramural funding, excellence in teaching, and at least 3 years of experience.
- For Associate or Full Professor rank: established record of securing extramural funding, high‑impact publications, impactful teaching, and years of relevant experience commensurate with rank.
- Experience directing an academic degree program.
- Research and/or teaching interests in health economics, econometric methods, outcomes research, health equity, social determinants of health, or health policy and politics.
