This position plans and directs the activities of Traffic Engineering, investigates and resolves related problems and public complaints, and performs related duties as required. The incumbent works within broad policy and organizational guidelines, performs independent planning and implementation, and reports progress through periodic conferences and meetings.
The work is considered sedentary in nature, involving walking or standing some of the time, exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a recurring basis, or routine keyboard operations. The job requires physical abilities such as hearing, mental acuity, speaking, talking, and visual acuity.
The work environment may involve exposure to bright/dim light, dusts and pollen, adverse weather conditions, wetness and humidity, traffic, extreme noise levels, vibration, moving machinery, electrical shock, heights, and critical situations requiring major decisions involving people, resources, and property.
Responsibilities:- Valid South Carolina Class “D” Driver’s License.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering focusing on Traffic Engineering or related field.
- Four (4) years of relevant experience.
- S.C. Registered Professional Engineer.
- Mathematical skills involving fractions, percentages, ratios, measurements, algebra, and statistics.
- Ability to analyze data, develop policies, and adapt methodologies based on new information.
- Negotiation skills for policy and program development.
- Interpretation of policies and operation of complex machinery and software.
- Problem-solving skills using scientific and logical methods.
- Proficiency in reading technical publications, public speaking, report writing, and training.
- Decision-making abilities affecting organizational and public interests.
