Job Title: CEI Inspector - Utilities

Work Location: Atlanta, GA

Salary: Based on experience and will be discussed with manager in interview

Duties / Responsibilities
  • Ability to read and interpret roadway and structure plans, contract specifications, schedules and quantities
  • Monitor the contractor’s on‑site construction activities and perform inspections to ensure conformance to project plans and specifications, and document the process
  • Prepare daily field reports
  • Ensure quality assurance is met for the project
  • Meet scheduling and attendance requirements
  • Understand and interpret schematic drawings
  • Work on interstate widening projects that require utility monitoring
  • Inspect installation of all utilities on the project
Education / Experience
  • High School Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • 3+ years of related work experience in utilities inspection as part of an interstate improvement project.
  • Experienced in GDOT manuals, specifications and protocols.
  • Familiar with traffic control plans, including traffic shifts, detours, lane closures or other activities that disrupt traffic flow.
  • Knowledge of the properties, characteristics, strengths, and weaknesses of the materials used in construction.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable.
  • Familiar with GDOT Utility Coordination procedures during construction.
Physical Requirements
  • Physically mobile in and around construction sites and field assignments.
  • Ability to carry required instruments and equipment.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Work is subject to variable climate and environmental conditions, including but not limited to extreme cold and heat.
