Patient Care Technician II - PRN
Position at MUSC Health. The Patient Care Technician (PCT) reports to the Nurse Manager and works under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse to support a decentralized patient-centered approach to patient care.
Job Description SummaryThe PCT performs multi-skilled activities to support patient care, including measuring and documenting vital signs, identifying patient concerns, moving, turning or relocating patients as required for comfort and medical needs. The role requires empathy, patience, intuition, excellent communication, and organizational skills.
Responsibilities- Measure and document vital signs.
- Identify patient concerns and report to RN/Charge Nurse.
- Move, turn, or relocate patients for comfort and medical requirements.
- Communicate issues to the care team.
A high school diploma or GED is required. At least one year of patient care work experience or Certified Nursing Assistant is preferred.
Required Licensure, Certifications, RegistrationsBasic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire and must be maintained. BLS certification from AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers or AHA recognized equivalent or American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
Physical Requirements- Able to stand, sit, walk continuously.
- Able to climb stairs infrequently.
- Able to lift and carry 50 lbs unassisted infrequently.
- Able to perform gross motor activities with fingers and hands continuously.
- Able to work rotating shifts and overtime as required.
- Able to work in latex safe environment continuously.
12 scheduled weekly hours PRN. Employee. Hourly pay. Health-21 pay grade. Awarded hourly rate for PRN as listed in posting.
