Position

Description:

Reporting to the Director of Payroll, the Payroll Specialist compiles and records employee time and payroll data; calculates employees’ time worked, production, bonuses, and commissions. The Payroll Specialist may also compute and post wages and deductions in preparation of payroll, process direct deposits, and calculate PTO accruals.

Responsibilities
  • Compiles payroll data such as garnishments, vacation time, insurance, and 401(k) deductions.
  • Review employee time sheets and verify the information for completeness and accuracy.
  • Contact various client supervisors for any missed times or incomplete data.
  • Process weekly transfer of payroll data for direct deposit to payroll system.
  • Compile internal management reports from payroll system software.
  • Calculates client bill rates based on employee pay rates and hours worked.
Qualifications
  • One to three years of payroll experience is required; multi‑state payroll experience preferred.
  • Ability to demonstrate technical computer proficiency (specifically 10‑Key and Microsoft Excel).
  • Ability to communicate proficiently.
  • Ability to demonstrate time management.
  • Ability to be punctual and maintain time management.
  • Detail‑oriented and thorough work requirements.
  • Ability to display integrity and keep personal information confidential.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position operates in a professional office environment; routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines and is primarily a sedentary role, although some filing is required. The role requires the ability to lift files up to 25 pounds, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
