Duration: 12-Month Contract
Project OverviewA large public‑sector organization is seeking a Network Administrator Consultant to support mission‑critical applications and cloud infrastructure. This role will focus on data and application services, server administration, and cloud migration initiatives, primarily within a Microsoft Azure environment. The consultant will help ensure compliance with state and federal security and architecture standards while supporting reliable system communication with internal teams and external partners.
PositionSummary
The Network Administrator Consultant will provide technical expertise for ongoing infrastructure, server, and cloud services projects. This role works closely with infrastructure, server, database, security, and development teams to design, deploy, maintain, and secure cloud‑based solutions. The consultant will support enterprise systems that deliver critical public programs, with a strong focus on system performance, availability, and security.
Key Responsibilities- Support migration of file and application storage to cloud‑based solutions
- Deploy, administer, and manage Microsoft Azure cloud services, including storage, identity, governance, and compute
- Monitor Azure and cloud storage solutions to identify and resolve performance or connectivity issues
- Manage user and group access, security controls, password protection, and shared resource usage
- Analyze system interactions and evaluate the impact of infrastructure changes
- Perform system analysis and testing to ensure scalability, performance, and reliability
- Design and implement secure Azure infrastructure aligned with business and security requirements
- Collaborate with security teams to implement and monitor security countermeasures
- Maintain compliance with applicable state and federal security standards
- Administer enterprise storage systems, capacity planning, and data lifecycle management
- Deploy and maintain monitoring tools, system agents, and supporting software
- Utilize virtualization and remote administration tools for troubleshooting and system assessments
- Provide support for communication systems, ensuring reliability and security
- Mentor junior team members and collaborate to ensure project success
- Participate in scheduled maintenance, including off‑hours or weekend work as needed
- 2–4 years of experience with Microsoft Azure Cloud and virtualization technologies
- 2–4 years of experience with Microsoft 365 / Office 365
- 2–4 years of experience administering Microsoft Active Directory
- 2–4 years of experience with Power Shell scripting
- 2–4 years of experience working with open‑source frameworks (e.g., ASP.NET)
- 3+ years of experience with Proofpoint
- Experience with data center, cloud, and network infrastructure
- User and group management, authentication, and security policies (GPO)
- Familiarity with JavaScript, HTML5, and SQL Server
- Power Shell
