Field Desktop Technician – Columbia, SC
Our client is seeking a qualified Field Desktop Technician to support customer sites within a 75‑mile radius of Columbia, SC. The Technician will troubleshoot laptops, desktops, printers, receipt printers, and check scanners. Must have a reliable vehicle, valid driver’s license, and clean MVR. Mileage will be paid.
Duties and Responsibilities- Diagnose mechanical, hardware, software, and systems failures using established procedures.
- Manage triage, troubleshooting, and resolution to client scope on IT equipment.
- Familiar with various operating systems (e.g. Windows OS).
- Perform service, repair, and/or installation of computer products including system hardware, PCs, laptops, and printers.
- Follow up with end users to provide status updates per service level guidelines (SLA’s).
- Document efforts, issues, and resolutions; close cases/tickets daily.
- Use Service Now to schedule work, update tickets, and resolve tickets accordingly.
- Minimum 1 to 2+ years of IT technical support experience.
- Hands‑on Break‑Fix and IMAC / Project experience.
- Sound understanding of customer support, operations, and processes.
- Exceptional customer service and relationship building competence.
- Able to communicate effectively both written and verbally, with the customers and in Service Now.
- Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and quality.
- Working knowledge of Windows operating systems, networks, databases, and network security concepts and tools is required.
- CompTIA A+ certification preferred.
- Net+ CompTIA certification preferred.
The rate for this position is between $17.50 – $25.31 per hour. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
