Womble Bond Dickinson (US) LLP is seeking a Business Litigation Associate to join its Columbia, South Carolina office. The Firm has a robust, national litigation practice that represents clients in complex commercial and business disputes across a wide range of industries. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with experienced trial lawyers on sophisticated matters while developing hands-on litigation skills in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of experience as a practicing litigator handling complex business or commercial litigation matters.
- Strong working knowledge of civil procedure and litigation strategy in state and federal courts.
- Demonstrated experience with:
- Legal research and drafting of motions and briefs
- Managing and coordinating discovery, including e-discovery
- Preparing deposition outlines and exhibits
- Taking and defending depositions
- Fact investigation and development
- Preference for candidates with courtroom experience, including motion hearings or other appearances.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to draft persuasive pleadings and communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.
- Strong academic credentials; prior judicial clerkship experience is a significant plus.
- Must be licensed in South Carolina or eligible for immediate admission.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Handle a wide range of business and commercial disputes, including breach of contract, business torts, and other complex litigation matters.
- Work directly with partners and clients on case strategy, discovery, and motion practice.
- Take a meaningful role in depositions, hearings, and other court proceedings.
- Assist with managing litigation teams and coordinating multi-party or multi-jurisdictional matters.
- Participate in business development and client service initiatives as experience grows.
