Job Summary

The Safety Manager Global MC is responsible for overseeing MC's organizational compliance with local, state and federal environmental, health and safety regulations, providing programs that ensure a safe workplace, implementing initiatives to prevent accidents, occupational diseases and exposure to long‑term health risks (SIF). Act as a facilitator of Continuous Improvement for Safety to improve employee safe behavior and ensure the application of Safety Absolutes in all MC plants.

  • Follow all publicized safety policies/procedures and JIBS applicable to the job.
  • Use appropriate PPE identified on the Hazard Analysis for the department/role.
  • Attend and participate in all safety training, meetings, audits and Behavior Based Safety programs assigned.
  • Report all safety hazards observed and correct them if capable.
Essential Job Functions
  • Read, understand and commit to conducting business according to Albany International's Business Ethics policy, corporate policies and all site‑specific policies.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve the existing safety culture within the MC organization.
  • Drive best‑in‑safety initiatives, ensuring programs and policies aligned with global MC standards are deployed at the site level.
  • Continuously monitor requirements and best practices from OSHA, corporate and other appropriate organizations to ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards.
  • Work cooperatively with local Safety Coordinators and Plant Managers on safety‑related issues.
  • Support the creation of the JSA and ensure its action plan is implemented and communicated between MC sites.
  • Supervise the risk‑management process for each piece of equipment, collaborate on sharing best practices.
  • Ensure Safety Absolute standards are applied at all MC sites.
  • Oversee Serious Injuries and Fatalities (SIFS) by implementing actions to reduce risks, tracking exposures, ensuring application of local action plans and analyzing SIF observations globally.
  • Ensure Site Security Policies are updated, follow up on security requirements and confirm annual assessments are completed.
  • Keep safety data and metrics updated globally, analyze and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Oversee CI actions in safety, including updating the Global Safety A3, aligning site A3 actions, updating the safety slide of the Quarterly Report, identifying systemic issues, following the 4‑Step CI Process, organizing and sharing best practices, leading CI safety initiatives, and ensuring CI routines identify safety opportunities with urgency.
  • Support and coach local safety coordinators and plant managers to comply with MC expectations and local legislation.
  • Create and deploy global safety training and programs focused on safe employee behavior.
  • Provide technical guidance to management regarding safety, health and environmental risk, presenting appropriate risk‑mitigation options and cost analyses.
  • Coordinate internal and external safety audits to assess facility compliance with MC expectations and regulatory requirements.
  • Update and communicate the MC Safety Policy.

Education Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Certified Safety Professional (preferred).
