American Traveler is hiring a Cardiac Stepdown RN with telemetry and IV start skills for an acute care hospital setting requiring an active SC or compact RN license.

• Work in the Stepdown Cardiac unit of an acute care hospital with 304 staffed beds
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Rotating weekend requirement
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating required between Downtown and Northeast campuses based on census and staffing needs, with ratio adjustments per unit if floated
• Uses Epic charting system

• Active SC or Multi-State/Compact RN license required; pending licenses not accepted for hire
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required (American Heart Association only)
• Telemetry and IV start skills required
• Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, central and peripheral line care, and cardiac monitoring preferred
• Experience interpreting and managing dysrhythmias preferred
• SSN required for consideration

• Provide stepdown-level care to cardiac patients, including pre/post cardiac catheterization care
• Manage patients with cardiovascular and neurological/psychiatric conditions such as CVA
• Administer medications including heparin protocols
• Respond to cardiac emergencies and interpret dysrhythmias
• Apply isolation precautions and PPE as needed
• Administer respiratory support including nasal cannula and oxygen therapy
• Royal blue scrub color required
• Holiday coverage may be required as needed
• Block scheduling may be accommodated pending manager approval and unit needs
• First-time travelers will be considered but travel experience is preferred
• Previous MUSC perm or PRN staff must be separated from the system for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Local candidates considered on a case-by-case basis
• Candidates must reside within a 60-mile radius unless hired as local
• All employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response duties during hurricane season (June through November)
