Horticulture Laborer; MSCOL

We are seeking a reliable and dedicated Groundskeeper to join our team! The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining outdoor areas including lawns, gardens, trees, shrubs, and other landscaping elements. This role involves physical labor, the operation of landscaping tools and machinery, and attention to detail to ensure high‑quality grounds appearance.

• Prior landscaping or groundskeeping experience is a plus
• Ability to operate landscaping machinery and tools
• Physically fit and able to work outdoors in various weather conditions; must be able to walk, bend, stoop, and stand for long periods of time
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
• Strong work ethic and reliability

• Mow, trim, and edge lawns using hand and power equipment
• Prune trees, shrubs, and hedges to maintain shape and health
• Plant flowers, trees, shrubs, and other greenery according to design plans
• Weed garden beds and apply mulch or ground cover
• Water plants, lawns, and trees as needed
• Operate and maintain landscaping tools such as mowers, trimmers, blowers, and chainsaws
• Apply fertilizers, pesticides, and other treatments safely
• Install and repair irrigation systems (if applicable)
• Assist in daily refuse collection and removal. This includes cleaning of grounds, walkways, driveways, parking lots to remove trash, leaves, limbs and clear debris from sites.
• Ensure cleanliness and safety of work areas
• If warranted, driving of departmental vehicles may be required after requirements are met
• In the operation of department vehicles or grounds equipment, all safety rules and regulations must be adhered to. The appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) must be always worn during the operation of grounds equipment (the PPE is supplied to each team member)
• Seasonal / emergency weather clean up
• Perform other duties as required
