Responsibilities

• Performs maintenance and repair tasks in such areas as electricity, heating, venting and air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, carpentry, and boiler operation.
• Assists in maintaining and repairing mechanical equipment such as pumps, motors, compressors and appliances.
• Documents completions of man hours and supplies used in maintenance and repair to Agency Work Orders, in timely manners.
• Assist others departments with purchase requisitions as necessary to complete maintenance or repair.
• Makes emergency and general repairs and adjustments to equipment used in building and maintenance work.
• Conducts routine inspections to ensure employees follow proper operating, maintenance and safety procedures for routine jobs.

• A high school diploma or equivalent and trade experience in the installation, repair and maintenance of refrigeration, mechanical and boiler systems, plumbing, carpentry and heating, venting, air conditioning (HVAC) equipment.

• License in EPA – approved Freon recovery certification.

• Must possess a valid South Carolina driver’s license.
• Must be able to bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, and stand for long periods of time.
• Must be able to climb and work from ladders, stairs, and scaffolding.
• Must have the ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to work in confined spaces; hot, hazardous and noisy locations; and in adverse weather conditions.
• Position requires participation in the on-call program and to work after hours, as on-call technician.
