Job Description

As a Diesel Technician II at Port City Concrete, you’ll play a vital role in keeping our fleet of vehicles and heavy equipment running at peak performance. Key Responsibilities
  • Tire Maintenance: Master the art of changing and repairing tires to manufacturer specs—ensuring safety and reliability on every job.
  • Oil and Filter Services: Keep our trucks and equipment in top shape with precision oil and filter changes.
  • Electrical Repairs: Tackle minor to mid-level electrical issues like a pro, from fixing lights to troubleshooting switches.
  • Mechanical Repairs: Diagnose and repair mechanical issues, keeping our fleet moving smoothly.
  • System Testing: Test power and hydraulic systems to ensure they’re operating at their best.
  • Lubrication Services: Keep all wear items properly greased and lubricated for maximum efficiency.
  • Axle and Bearing Repairs: Dive into wheel bearings, hub assemblies, and seals to keep our vehicles rolling safely.
  • Drive Shaft Repairs: Remove, repair, and maintain universal and slip joints with precision.
  • Brake and Water System Repairs: Diagnose and repair air, hydraulic brake systems, and pressurized water systems with confidence.
  • Advanced Repairs Assistance: Collaborate with Diesel Technicians III on complex repairs and learn from the best.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Keep our equipment looking and performing like new with regular pressure washing.
  • Workspace Organization: Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workspace.
  • Repair Order Compliance: Follow repair orders meticulously, documenting every detail accurately and promptly.
  • Team

    Collaboration:

    Work hand-in-hand with the Shop Foreman to keep the shop running smoothly.
  • Mentorship: Share your expertise and guide level I Diesel Technicians to help them grow.
  • Safety Compliance: Prioritize safety in everything you do, adhering to company policies without exception.
  • Additional Duties: Take on new challenges and tasks as they arise—there’s always something exciting to learn!
What We’re Looking For
  • Education: Auto or diesel technology diploma from an accredited technical school is a plus, but not required.
  • Experience: At least 4 years of hands‑on maintenance or mechanical experience.
  • Certifications: ASE Certifications are a bonus—show us what you’ve got!
  • Licensing: A Commercial Driver’s License (Class A or

    B) is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Technical

    Skills:

    • Comfortable operating manual transmission vehicles to assess performance.
    • Skilled with handheld scan tools and vehicle diagnostics.
    • Able to read and interpret schematics like a pro.
    • Proficient in computer applications like Excel, Word, Fleet Management Systems, and Email.
  • Communication

    Skills:

    Strong written and verbal communication for clear documentation and teamwork.
  • Tools: Bring your own hand tools and toolbox—your gear, your pride.
Physical Demands
  • Lift and carry 60 lbs. from floor to waist height and across a 5-foot span.
  • Push/pull 50 lbs. across a 10-foot span.
  • Lift 20 lbs. from waist to shoulder height.
  • Stand for long periods, bend, twist, kneel, stoop, crouch, or crawl with ease.
  • Use your hands to handle, control, or feel tools and equipment.
Schedule
  • 40 - 70 hours per week
  • 10 hour shift
