Job Duties
  • The Child Welfare Services Case Worker Assistant performs a variety of services to support the Human Services programs. This position supports the professional Human Services staff, which requires knowledge of all programs and administrative reporting procedures. Provides services to remedy abuse and/or neglect of children unable to protect themselves.
  • Supports and assists Human Services professionals with providing casework services in the areas of Assessment/investigation, Family Preservation, and Foster Care.
  • Provides or arranges transportation for CWS clients to resources in the community as part of the social service aide plan. Assist with the transportation of children.
  • Participates as a member of a professional team to plan services for clients.
  • Makes referrals to service providers, requests progress reports into CAPSS, and completes Clear Search requests.
  • Makes requests for educational, medical, dental, mental health, law enforcement, court, and other records, updating the Person screen (educational and medical) in CAPSS.
  • Assists with obtaining documents for Foster Care Review Board packets, lV-E packets, Home Studies and ICPC packets, etc.
  • Provides administrative support. Duties to include but are not limited to typing correspondence, logging in/out files, filing, copying, faxing, scanning, linking files in CAPPS, attending staff and unit huddle meetings, typing staffing notes on DSS form 37175, etc.
  • Assists with the completion of investigation case files/transfer to Family Preservation, compiling Family Preservation and Foster Care cases, and entering Kinship Care Placements in CAPPS.
  • Assists with scheduling child and family visitations and teaching appropriate parenting and household management skills, assisting with entering information in the visitation tab.
  • Ensures that personal identifying information (PII) is properly used, accessed, gathered, shared, and disposed of, to protect the agency networks and application by safeguarding systems, equipment, and data. Ensure that files are left secured when leaving your area.
  • Completes criminal background requests, central registry, sex offender checks, drug screen referrals/and drug screen assessment referrals.
  • Performs job delivery and performance with positive or appropriate customer service delivery to clients, the public, and coworkers as an integral requirement.
  • Performs other related duties as directed by the supervisor.
  • Performs Red Cross Shelter, Disaster SNAP task, and emergency response duties as directed.
Qualifications
  • A High School Diploma and one (1) year of work experience in clerical, administration, social work, correctional, business administration or general business, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have access to and be able to operate a motor vehicle. Individuals must comply with necessary field work assignments.
