What you’ll do

Become part of an iconic brand set to revolutionize the electric pickup truck and rugged SUV marketplace.

Responsibilities include:

  • Ingest data from legacy and modern IT systems into a Databricks lakehouse (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, on-prem/plant systems, SQL/No

    SQL sources, flat files, APIs).
  • Build robust ELT pipelines with Python, SQL, and PySpark; model data for analytics and enforce governance with Unity Catalog.
  • Implement automated data quality checks and reconciliation; design lineage/observability for pipelines and jobs.
  • Develop forecasting, anomaly detection, and root-cause analytics using Databricks ML, MLflow, and Model Registry; operationalize models via batch jobs or inference endpoints.
  • Create KPI calculations for manufacturing/quality (e.g., FPY, PPM, Cp/Cpk, SPC trends) and document them as a single source of truth.
  • Visualize results in Sigma Computing and Power BI, and deliver lightweight custom React web apps for interactive diagnostics.
  • Orchestrate and product ionize workloads with Databricks Workflows; implement CI/CD (Git/Git Hub Actions/Azure Dev Ops); write unit/integration tests (pytest).
  • Coordinate with Production/Manufacturing, Manufacturing IT, data owners/stewards, and the enterprise LLM/OpenAI platform team to ensure data availability, access, SLAs, and safe model functionality.
  • Role based at Scout Motors location in Columbia, SC/Blythewood, SC with daily in-office attendance and regular in-person meetings and events. Occasional travel to participate in company events may be required.

  • Education/Certifications
    :
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Data/Industrial/Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Nice to have:
    Databricks Data Engineer Professional and/or Machine Learning Professional.
  • Years of Experience
    : 4+ years in data engineering/analytics or ML engineering, including 2+ years hands-on with Databricks/Spark.
  • Communication
    :
  • Ability to translate complex data and model outputs into clear business decisions for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Technical Proficiency
    :
  • Strong Python (pandas, PySpark) and SQL; performance tuning for Spark jobs and Delta Lake tables.
  • Databricks lakehouse expertise:
    Unity Catalog, Delta Live Tables, MLflow, Feature Store, Model Registry.
  • Data integration: REST/JDBC connectors, OAuth/service accounts, batch & streaming.
  • Data quality & governance: validation frameworks, lineage, access controls, secrets management, auditability.
  • MLOps: experiment tracking, reproducible training, model packaging, CI/CD, monitoring/drift detection, safe rollback.
  • BI:
    Power BI (including DAX), Sigma Computing.
  • Web applications:
    React + Type Script, FastAPI/Flask, OAuth2, Docker, Git Hub Actions CI/CD; integration with Databricks SQL & ML endpoints.
  • Orchestration & Dev Ops:
    Databricks Workflows, Git-based workflows, automated testing (pytest).

Pay Transparency

This is a full-time, exempt position with base salary and an annual performance bonus program. Initial base salary range: $95,000.00 – $. Internal leveling code: IC9.
