Systems Development Manager; Netsuite

The Systems Development Manager leads our development team and is still a hands-on developer. You will manage the WMS developer and the Net Suite developer, set priorities, review their work, and write code yourself. Most of your time will go to leading the team and working with the business, with the rest spent hands-on building and supporting our systems.

• Manage, coach, and support the WMS developer and the Net Suite developer.
• Plan and assign work. Keep a clear, ranked list of projects and requests.
• Review code and designs before they go live. Set coding standards and make sure work is documented.
• Run a simple release process: sandbox testing, user sign-off, then production.
• Help hire, train, and grow developers as the team changes.

• Meet with warehouse, sales, purchasing, accounting, and customer service to understand what they need.
• Turn requests into clear requirements, estimates, and timelines.
• Tell users and leadership where projects stand, in plain language.
• Report to the CIO and help shape the systems roadmap.

• Look for opportunities to improve our systems and business processes.
• Design new solutions and process changes from start to finish.
• Turn ideas into clear designs, specs, and diagrams that developers can build from.
• Explain the plan to developers and users so everyone understands the goal and how it will work.
• Make sure new work fits the bigger picture and can grow with the business.

• Develop and maintain Net Suite customizations, scripts, workflows, reports, and forms.
• Support and improve our custom WMS and warehouse tools.
• Build and support integrations with customers, vendors, carriers, and other outside systems.
• Look for ways to automate manual work, including the use of AI tools.
• Step in on production issues, find the root cause, and keep them from happening again.
• Help with Net Suite administration as needed.

What you need

• 7+ years of software development, with at least 4 years on Net Suite.
• 2+ years leading or managing developers.
• Strong Suite Script 2.1 (JavaScript) and SuiteQL skills.
• Experience with warehouse, distribution, or inventory systems.
• Experience building integrations (Celigo or similar, REST APIs, EDI).
• Solid SQL and a good handle on data, reporting, and troubleshooting.
• Comfortable using Git, sandbox accounts, and a test-before-release process.
• Clear communicator who can explain technical things to non-technical people.
• Able to switch between managing people and writing code in the same day.

Nice to have

• Automotive aftermarket or wholesale distribution background.
• Net Suite certifications (Suite Cloud Developer, Administrator).
• Experience with RF/barcode scanning, label printing, and warehouse hardware.
• Experience with TMS, carrier, or freight systems.
• Experience using AI/LLM APIs for document extraction or automation.
• Crystal Reports or Suite Analytics Connect.
• Experience with an IT ticketing system such as Manage Engine Service Desk Plus.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equal experience).
