Unit: 4 Pavilion – Telemetry Beds: 32 Ratios: 1:6 Shift Options:
• 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM
• 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
• Weekend:
Every other, rotation (weekends 1 & 3 or 2 &
4)
• Holidays:
Rotational with core staff; preferences considered
• Block Scheduling:
Allowed if unit needs are met Required
Certifications:
BLS, ACLS Patient Population:
• Adult & geriatric
• Cardiopulmonary diagnoses: CHF, chest pain, post-cardiac cath (mostly femoral, some radial)
• Experience preferred:
Med-Surg, Telemetry, Critical Drips; chemo experience preferred Drip/Titration Responsibilities:
• RNs titrate drips:
Yes
• Common drips:
Nitro (chest pain only), Amiodarone, Lasix, Heparin, Dopamine (low dose renal perfusion only) Staffing & Roles:
• Monitor techs 24/7; RNs review strips each shift
• Charge nurse may have modified assignment or serve as traveler precepted if willing
• House supervisor available 24/7
• Nurse aides: 7A–7P (1:10), 7P–7A (1:15) Equipment: IV pumps, sequential compression devices, pulse oximeters, specialty beds, telemetry, CPAP/BiPAP, oxygen Floating Requirements:
• May float to 3P/5P Med-Surg or Emergency Department for boarded patients as needed Dress Code:
• RNs/LPNs:
Navy scrubs
• CNAs/Monitor Techs:
Dark Grey/Pewter
• Solid color only, no embroidery/patterns; WVU Medicine or solid fleece allowed in grey, black, navy, royal blue
• Solid undershirts: white, grey, black matching scrub top
• Closed-toed shoes only; no crocs Orientation:
• First day:
General hospital orientation
• Full nursing orientation (RNs/LPNs)
• Computer training: ½ day for CNAs, full day for nurses
• Two 12-hour preceptor shifts
• Abbreviated Initial Skills Checklist due 90 days from start
