Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM

• Rotating weekends and holidays required (every other weekend)

• Block scheduling accommodated when possible but not always guaranteed

• Care for 4 patients per nurse in an 11-bed unit (expanding to 11-12 beds)

• Must have 1-2 years critical care experience and travel experience required

• Required to float to Med-Surg Telemetry, ICU, Stepdown, or Emergency Department as needed

• Required certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS, NIHSS

• Must be competent with ICU skill set including BiPAP, CPAP, mechanical ventilation, telemetry, critical drips, and post cardiac cath care

• CRRT and IABP experience preferred

• Arterial line experience, post fem pop, post endarterectomy, ECAR, and TVAR experience preferred

• Required to titrate drips including insulin, Cardizem, heparin, amiodarone, and low dose dopamine

• Work with RT equipment including CPAP, BiPAP, high flow O2, mechanical ventilation via tracheostomy, specialty beds, and IV pumps

• Monitor telemetry and read strips with 24/7 monitor tech support

• Assist with general patient care and unit clerk duties when indicated

• Dress code requires solid navy scrubs with no embroidery or patterns, closed-toed shoes only (no crocs)

• Epic charting system used

• Comprehensive orientation includes hospital orientation, nursing orientation, computer training, and two 12-hour shifts with preceptor

The unit maintains advanced monitoring capabilities with 24/7 telemetry monitoring and provides comprehensive critical care services with experienced charge nurses and house supervisors available around the clock.
